• Area schools are out Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
• City Hall and the City Library will be closed both Thursday and Friday. The library will also be closed Saturday.

First Christian sets free meal for Thursday
First Christian Church will again host its annual free Thanksgiving luncheon Thursday, according to John Elbert Fischer, spokesman.

‘14 budget gets $350,000 relief from trial plea deal
Milam job cuts still needed, judge says
Last week’s surprise ending to the Brandon Cotton capital murder trial process will save Milam County taxpayers more than a third of a million dollars immediately in the 2014 budget, but the job cuts which are a part of that budget will still take place.

McLane gift assures Milano fire station
MILANO—The Milano Volunteer Fire Department got a huge boost towards its yet-to-be constructed station last week when the Drayton McLane Jr. family donated $200,000 to the group.
