Buckholts Lions collects 900 pounds for annual food drive

The Buckholts Lions Club members were very active during the week of November 17-24.

On November 20, the Club set up a face painting booth at the Buckholts ISD Fall Festival. Thanks to the school for letting the Club set up and thanks to all members who participated in the face painting.

On November 21, containers were picked up from different businesses in the Buckholts area for the food drive. Thanks to Circle V, Buckholts City Hall, Pirtel Insurance and Buckholts State Bank for your participation.

In the evening, the club drove a school bus around Buckholts to pick up food from different houses.

On November 22, the club set up a table at the Buckholts State Bank and sold goodies for the Bake Food Sale. The funds used from this sale will be used with other funds for scholarships to be distributed at the end of the year.

On November 23 and 24, over 900 lbs of food were distributed out to the local areas deserving families.

The Buckholts Lions Club would like to thank all who donated their time, their food and their monetary donations to the drive.

Special thanks go out to Miss Julie House, Superintendent Dirk Dykstra, Julie Griener and the staff of Buckholts ISD. A large majority of the food donated/ gathered for the food drive came from the school and without the schools assistance the drive would not have been such a success.–Lion President, Christopher Marrs
