The first of three community wide Christmas events will be held this weekend in downtown Milano. On Saturday there will be a lighting ceremony held downtown at the Bailey Bank Building. That will get underway at 6 p.m., followed by hay rides ending at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall. Cookies, punch and hot chocolate will also be available at the church.

The next Saturday, Dec. 7, is the annual Milano Christmas parade. Start time is 10:30 a.m. Following the parade, the free community Christmas meal will be served at the Civic Center.

The final planned event will be held Saturday, Dec. 14. Christmas decorations around town will be judged in the city’s annual contest. This year hayrides and Christmas caroling will begin, along with the judging at 6 p.m. at the civic center. At 7 p.m. a community Christmas sing-along will be held, also at the civic center.

The MHS football team has made history and are in the regional round of the state playoffs, the furthest that any football team in school history has gone. They will play Falls City at 2 p.m. Friday at Hays Consolidated’s Bob Shelton Stadium in Buda. Lets go Eagles!

Milano Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6 p. m. Monday, Dec. 2 in the Milano Elementary School cafeteria.

Yearbooks for 2014 are now on sale. This year’s theme is “#Life@ Milano.” The cost is $25, but will be increasing in January. Order online today at www.balfour.com.
