Rockdale Christmas party on tap Dec. 7
Rockdale’s annual Christmas party and parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 7 with a full day of activities.
It all leads up to the night lighted parade through downtown Rockdale at 6:30 p.m.
Activities get under way at 9 a.m. downtown and go until 6 p.m. Many will be at the restored I&GN Depot-Musem, corner of Milam and Main.
Santa will be at the depot from 4 to 6 p.m.
There will be plenty of activities for children including balloon art and face painting. The popular kiddie train of past years will return on Dec. 7.
Plenty of downtown stores will be in the Christmas spirit with decorations and sales.
Some will be open later than usual for Saturday.
There will be arts and crafts booths and drink vendors along Main Street at Wolf Park, across Milam and Main from the depot, and elsewhere in the downtown area.
Local entertainment and dancing will also be at Wolf Park.
Rockdale’s 0ffical Christmas tree will be lit at 5:30 p.m. at Wolf Park
Here are activities planned for the I&GN Depot:
• Historic quilt display in the museum.
• Store time through the day.
• 2 to 4 p.m., coffee and desserts in the diner car, which has undergone extensive renovation in recent months.
• Model train display.
• And, of course, Santa, who will also participate in the nighttime parade.
