Milam escapes ‘wintry mix’ weekend

Milam County law enforcement was on alert over the weekend as a major winter storm threatened Central Texas but the thermometer stayed just above freezing as cold rain fell almost continuously for three straight days.

Lows over the weekend were 36, 37 and 35 in Rockdale, staying just above the “magic” 32-degree freezing mark and sparing the county an ice storm.
