Reporter/Mike Brown Reporter/Mike Brown A milestone in the San Gabriel Bridge construction project on FM 486 was reached last week when traffic was switched from the “old” bridge to the new bridge that’s been constructed over the past year. Traffic will continue on the new bridge while the old bridge is demolished and a “newer than new” bridge is built. As has been the case in recent months, traffic on FM 486 will continue to be controlled by a set of red and green signal lights at both ends of the bridge complex, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
