Mrs. Sanders Mrs. Sanders PALESTINE—Mary LuCinda (Cindy) Sanders, 66, of Grapeland passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.

Ci ndy wa s born in Gause on April 12, 1947, to Mary Hernandez and Z.T. Johnson.

She married her best friend James C. Sanders Jr. on Nov. 5, 1994.

She was a beloved member of the community and could frequently be found smiling at the cash register at the Wal-Mart in Palestine.

Cindy was quite the hog hunter and has been known to shoot with the best of them.

She had a passion for quilting and was one of the best cooks this side of the Mississippi.

She enjoyed spending her off time spoiling all of the grandkids and great- grandkids, as well as giving Jim an incredibly hard time.

Cindy is preceded in death by father Z.T. Johnson, brother David Johnson, father-in-law James C. Sanders Sr., stepfather Simon Hernandez, and sister-inlaw Georgia Johnson.

She is survived by her husband James C. Sanders of Grapeland; mother Mary Hernandez; mother-in-law Wilma Sanders of Crockett; sister and brothers Carol McDaniel of Rockdale, Calvin Johnson of Crockett, Robert Johnson of Wichita, Kansas, William Johnson of Keller, Darrell Johnson of Milano, Curtis Johnson of New Braunfels; and her nine children, Cathy and Travis Phillips of Santa Fe, Jeri Lynn and Tracy Clark of Baclif f, Shane and Kelley Woods of Dickinson, Kim Sides and John Paul Salano of San Leon, Allison and Chris Marks of Diamondhead, Mississippi, Todd and Amanda Carson of Pasadena, Chris and Lana Sanders of Friendswood, Judy and Tracy Myers of Pearland, Carol and Cecil Almendarez of Friendswood.

She also is survived by 24 grandkids and two great-grand kids.

A memorial service was held at Herrington Land of Memory in Palestine on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 from 1 till 3 p.m.
