Santa welcomes Thorndale kids at the Christmas Lot lighting ceremony held Sunday at the US 79 display. Several area businesses and groups are represented in the display. The Christmas Lot lighting on Sunday was a huge success. Drive by and take a look if you were unable to attend. The tree is beautiful and the businesses and organizations represented did an outstanding job of wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Thanks to the Communities in Concert Band for their help in leading our Christmas caroling and to the St. Paul Lutheran Church choir for their special music.

Thanks also to the Thorndale 4-H Club for the delicious hot chocolate and cookies. The committee for this event did an outstanding effort in getting everything ready for all to enjoy.

Those having a display on the lot include: Thorndale Coop, VFW Post #4009 and Auxiliary, Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church, St. John Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Café-Louis Alvarez and Mauricio (Christmas tree), Thorndale 4-H Club, Relay For Life, Town & Country, First Baptist Church of Thorndale, Rockdale Federal Credit Union and Carol’s-Freddie & Carol Wuensche.

This night would not be possible without the gracious help of everybody, but especially the committee in charge of getting everything together.

They were: Bobbie Love, Billye Schwarz, Rosalie Biar, Zip Rutledge, Sharon Betak, Susan Drabek, Ann Rodenbeck, Marilyn Johnson and Angie Becker, along with help from Harold Biar, Larry Drabek, Buddy Johnson, Ricky Melde, Mickey Schwarz, Keith Kiesling, Brian Dees, Brian Prusse, Kirk Becker and others. May God bless you all.

And a special thanks to Santa for stopping by to take orders for the youngsters in Thorndale. This Lot Lighting marks the beginning of the Christmas Season in Thorndale and the crowd enjoyed the entire event.
