MISD REPORT

What a great fall season at MHS
Robert Westbrook
Milano ISD Superintendent

What a fall season for Milano ISD. Our athletic teams had phenomenal success this fall. Our cross country teams, both boys and girls, advanced to regionals. Our volleyball team advanced to the regional tournament. Our football team advanced to the regional semifinals before falling to a very good Falls City team.

By the way, this year’s football team advanced further into the UIL State Playoffs than any other Milano High School team. Congratulations go out to our coaches Craig Jentsch, Dusty Loewe, Chad LaGrone, Jacob Dent and John Hughes for a great, record setting and memorable season.

The boys have earned some postseason honors and will continue to earn them over the next few weeks as all region and all state teams are announced. At this time, I would like to congratulate Jordan Millar for being named the MVP for District 13A. Earning first team all-district honors were Randy Pedroza, David Jentsch, Nick Bonorden, Mik Mader, Chance Pack, Chris Rowan, Trent Ellison, Cole Sheppard and Alex Ferrara.

Earning second team all-district honors were Cody Alexander, Makenan Hairston, Derek Walton, Christian Grimes, Kody Love, and Treyton Steinbecker. Honorable mention all-district honors went to Josh Lewis, Dillon Liscum and Tyler Blake. Special mention goes out to David Jentsch, Justin Grimes, Alex Ferrara, Cody Alexander, Treyton Steinbecker and Sabian Pugh for earning academic all-district honors. Our student athletes put in a lot of time and energy in practice and preparation for the games. These young men also resolved to do their very best in the classroom as well as on the field. Congratulations on a job well done.

What does the future of Milano football look like? While we are losing a very talented group of seniors, we will be adding a talented group of freshmen next year. Our junior high football team went undefeated this year, which equates to a bright future for Milano football.

Great job guys, you left us #MilanoProud!

All state volleyball—that is the honor that has been bestowed upon Myka Morehead by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Myka is a very hard working, dedicated student athlete that is always working on being the best student and athlete she can be. There is not a more deserving young lady than Myka.
