Prairie View article gets praise from ex-teacher

Dear editor,

You cannot imagine how thrilled I was, when I read the article on the Prairie View Interscholastic League (PVIL) in The Reporter Nov. 21.

This brought back many memories of Aycock, for w inning at PVIL was not confined to athletics.

We brought back many gold, silver and bronze medals in the various academic contests. This included mathematics, spelling, essay writing, poetr y, prose, debates, many music contests, vocal and band.

These students were productive after finishing high school. Aycock proudly boasts of a college president, numerous college professors, nurses, business ow ners, teachers, and other professionals.

I am proud of the Rockdale Athletic Hall of Honor, for it includes many of our famed athletes. W hen r eferring b ack to “Ebony Etchings”, you are reminded of the Academic side also.

My plans are to visit the historical exhibit at the Division of Diversity and Community Engagements. and view their display.

Most of all, thanks to Bill Martin, for his wonderful articles in the sports section. I just bubble with pride when I think of The Rockdale Reporter.

Sincerely

Susie Sansom Piper
