Annual Christmas parade, meal set downtown Saturday

Reporter correspondent

This Saturday is the annual Milano Christmas parade. Start time is 10:30 a.m. Following the parade, the free community Christmas meal will be served at the Civic Center.

The parade will form in the MHS football field parking lot around 9:30 a.m. where entry forms will be available. The parade route will travel from the parking lot to downtown, ending at the Milano Civic Center.

Divisions for the parade are: best overall, small animals, small motorized/battery operated, vehicles/tractor, floats, bicycle/ walking and horses/wagons. Winners will be announced following the parade at the civic center where a free, traditional Christmas dinner will be served. Everyone is invited to stay for the meal.

On Saturday, Dec. 14 another family-friendly event will be held in the community. Christ- mas decorations around town will be judged in the city’s annual contest. This year hayrides and Christmas caroling will begin, along with the judging at 6 p.m. at the civic center. At 7 p.m. a community Christmas sing-a-long will be held, also at the civic center.

A big “thank you” to everyone who came out to the downtown Christmas display lighting on Saturday. The hayride, cookies and hot chocolate, along with sing-a-long was much enjoyed.

The MHS football team ended its historic run in the playoffs with a tough loss to Falls City on Friday. We are so proud of all the boys and their coaches. Now on to basketball season.

Yearbooks for 2014 are now on sale. This year’s theme is “#Life@Milano.” The cost is $25, but will be increasing in January. Order online today at
