Dorsett

Graveside services for Janice Lee Dorsett, 68, of Rockdale were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. Russ Willis of Meadowbrook Baptist Church officiating.

Ms. Dorsett died Friday, Nov. 29, at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown.

She was born Jan. 14, 1945, at Fort Sumner, New Mexico, to Eddie and Wanda (Beaird) Pharis.

Ms. Dorsett was raised in Dime Box and graduated from Dime Box High School.

She lived in Rockdale for the past 25 years and enjoyed spending time with her grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Dorsett on Feb. 13, 1993; her parents; and a special aunt and uncle, Gloria and Ray McClain.

Survivors are two daughters, Connie Merka and husband Tommy of Rockdale, Cathy Clark; two grandsons, Thomas Merka of Waxahachie, Clayton Merka of Rockdale; two brothers, Roy Pharis and wife Linda of Dime Box, Boyd Pharis and wife Rhonda of Dime Box; and two sisters Diana Johnson and husband Lee of Rockdale, Debbie Kostelka and husband Floyd of Dime Box.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
