Piske

Graveside services for George Edward Piske, 69, of Rockdale were held Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, in Lilac Cemetery near Sharp with Reed Davis officiating.

Mr. Piske died Wednesday, Nov. 27, at his home.

He was born Dec. 27, 1943, in San Gabriel to Gerhardt and Selma (Ottmer) Piske.

He had lived the past 54 years in Rockdale, having moved from Sharp.

Mr. Piske was a 1962 graduate of Rockdale High School.

In April 1965, he joined the U.S. Army until April 1967.

After his discharge, he worked as a butcher, retiring in 1992 after 25 years.

Mr. Piske had worked with Piggly Wiggly, McVoy’s and Food Low.

He was a member of Sharp Presbyterian Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On May 4, 1990, he married Susan Diana Blacklock in Rockdale.

Mr. Piske was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Thomas Piske, on Oct. 26, 1989; four brothers, Sonny Piske, Bill Piske, Leroy Piske and Robert Lee Piske; and two sisters, Elanora Ferguson and Regina Piske.

Survivors are his wife, Susan Diana Piske of Rockdale; two daughters, Dawn Dodds and Lori Piske, both of Rockdale; a stepson, Jason Wright of Thrall; two stepdaughters, Michelle Palm of Thorndale, Jennifer Wright of Rockdale; and two sisters, Mary Voyles of Sharp, Bernice Rogers of Cuero; also, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bobby Piske, Darrel l Piske, Roger Piske, Ernest Piske, T. J. Rogers and Billy Wayne Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Wr ight , Mat thew Dodds, Arion Palm, Logan Palm, Pacey Wright, Levi Elliston and Bryton Elliston.
