POH sets Christmas Open House Saturday

Place of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center is holding a Christmas Open House on Saturday from 3-5 p.m.

“Punch and cookies will be served and we invite everyone to come and tour our newly renovated building, 231 East Cameron Avenue, if you haven’t seen it,” said Ginger Green, spokesperson.

RMH Auxiliary yule luncheon tickets on sale

Tickets for the annual Richards Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Christmas luncheon are on sale, according to president Jody Manning.

Tickets are $8 each and this year’s menu will include barbecue. Tickets can be purchased at the RMH front desk.

This year’s luncheon will be held on Friday, Dec. 13 at St. John’s United Methodist Church fellowship hall (corner of Hillcrest and Summit) in Rockdale.

Genealogy Society sets Christmas fellowship

Milam County Genealogical Society’s final meeting of 2013 will be a Christmas fellowship at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16 in the home of Gene and Patricia McKee, 2009 Skyles, Rockdale.

Members are encouraged to bring a $15-$20 gift (genealogy related) for exchange following a meal and Christmas program.

For directions or for a ride, call the McKee home, 512-446-5102, on the meeting day.

Members who volunteer to bring food items for the meal should call Patricia McKee by Friday, Dec. 6, to verify their dish or to see what is needed: patgenemckee@aol.com or 512-446-5102.

Members should make sure dues are paid by the Jan. 28, 2014 meeting to be able to vote for officers that night. Dues are: Individual $15, family $20, senior citizen $10, and supporting membership $25.

Germaine Cares plans to help a local family

Germaine Cares Foundation, named in honor of the late Germaine Dawson, plans to assist one family with Christmas presents.

TaNisha McKenzie, spokesperson, said the Foundation would like to provide Christmas presents to the children of a family this holiday season and make Christmas a little brighter for that family.

Grief support meetings held twice monthly

Florida Boys concert Thursday in Somerville

SOMERVILLE—The Ladies Auxi liary of the Somervi l le Volunteer Fire Department will present the Florida Boys in a gospel music concert at 7 p. m. Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Somerville American Legion Hall. Proceeds benefit the fire department. FMI: 979-596-1466 or 979-596-2453.
