Tigers will play in lower class for first time since 1979 season
According to cutoff numbers released by the University Interscholastic League Monday morning, Rockdale will compete at a lower classification when teams are realigned in February.
While the Tigers will remain in Class 3A, it is actually the new Class 2A. The UIL added a 6A for large school competition, so all classes were bumped up one number. Full Story

Junior’s 54 points shatters Luetge’s 59-year old mark
It was bound to happen sooner or later. Sooner won out.
Wendell Mitchell broke Clyde Luetge’s 59-year-old scoring mark by pouring in 54 points against Brazos Christian last Tuesday night in an 89-64 Tiger victory.
The 6-foot guard surpassed Tiger great Clyde Luetge’s previous record of 51 that had stood since 1954. Full Story

Milano’s Millar named District 13A-II MVP
Ten players in 12 positions make first team
MILANO— Milano senior quarterback Jordan Millar, who helped lead the Eagles to the furthest they’ve ever been in the state football playoffs, has been named most valuable player in District 13A-II.
Millar, who led the team in passing and rushing this season, came in this year to replace two year starting signal caller Toby Sanders who graduated in May. Full Story

Rockdale off to best start in years
A young and talented roster has jump started the Rockdale Lady Tigers as the basketball season gets rolling in earnest.
The Lady Tigers improved to 6-1 Tuesday night with a 45-40 victory over Academy on the road.
After opening the season 5-0, Rockdale slipped for the first time this season, 56-38 to Class 5A Waco High. Full Story
Morehead named All-State spiker
MILANO—Lady Eagle junior outside hitter Myka Morehead has been named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Class A All-State volleyball team.
Morehead, who was recently named a District 16A first team selection, led Milano to the regional tournament, where they lost in the semifinals to state semifinalist Lindsay. Full Story
Thorndale, Milano take their lumps on the road
The Milano Lady Eagles (2-4) fell hard on the road Tuesday night at Rogers, falling 75-41.
Milano (2- 4) trailed just 30-22 at the half, but Rogers managed much better shooting in the third and fourth quarters.
Keely LaGrone led the Lady Eagles with nine points. Halle McManess added eight points, with Kelly Wadlingotn and Emily Overall adding seven each. Full Story
