Thorndale can’t hold on to early 10-0 lead

Cagers edge Smithville Tuesday at home
The Rockdale Tigers fought off a furious Smithville comeback Monday night to stave off the Tigers 62- 61 at Tiger Gymnasium.
Wendell Mitchell continued his torrid scoring pace by pumping in 39 points to lead the Tigers.
While the junior guard was 11-of-21 from the field and an impressive 17-of-19 from the line, he also snared nine rebounds. Full Story
Fresh off the football field, Bulldogs win first outing
20-point second quarter hands Kovar first victory
Using a 20-point outburst in the second quarter, the Thorndale Bulldogs whisked by Milano 46-36 Tuesday night at Bulldog Gym, handing new coach John Kovar his first victory in his first game.
It was Thorndale’s first game of the year, as they were just knocked out of the state football playoffs on Friday. Full Story
Lady Tigers trip Thrall
The Rockdale Lady Tigers were the benefactors of an early lead in staving off Thrall 38-35 Tuesday night at Tiger Gymnasium.
The Lady Tigers improved to 7-1 on the season.
Velma Mitchell led the way with 13 points with five steals and a block.
