Christmas Sunday ahead at Landmark Baptist Church

This coming Sunday is Christmas Sunday at Landmark Baptist Church in Rockdale. The day begins with Sunday School for all ages at 10 a.m., and is followed by the Morning Worship Service at 11 a.m., featuring the singing of Christmas songs, special music, and a sermon by the pastor, Dr. David E. Gonnella, titled, “The Gifts of the Wise Men.”

Following a fellowship luncheon, the Afternoon Worship Service at 1:30 p.m. will consist of a Christmas concert featuring vocal and instrumental solos and musical groups. There will also be poetry and a dramatic reading.

All are invited to attend this special day. Landmark Baptist Church is located on South Wilcox Street, next to Manor Oaks Nursing Home.

Peace Lutheran sets Christmas Eve service

Peace Lutheran Church, 303 Meadow Drive in Rockdale, will hold Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24 with the public invited.

The church is also holding mid-week Advent soup suppers and services each Wednesday through Dec. 18.

St. Thomas Episcopal lists Christmas services

St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 302 East Davilla in Rockdale, has announced its Advent and Christmas schedule as follows:

Dec. 22—Fourth Sunday of Advent, 11 a.m., Celebration of Holy Eucharist Rite II.

Dec. 24—Christmas Eve service, Carols at 6:45, Celebration of Holy Eucharist at 7 p.m.

Dec. 25—Christmas Day Service of Holy Eucharist.

Allen AME Church sets Watch Night on Jan. 31

Allen AME Church, 216 East Third Street in Rockdale, will host a Watch Night service on Wednesday, Dec. 31 from 10 p.m. until midnight with the public invited, according to Rev. Keith Gavin, pastor.

Milano community outreach breakfast

MILANO—Milano Church of Christ invites the public to a free breakfast from 8 until 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 at the church building just west of the CEFCO station in Milano on US 79.

“Come and enjoy bacon, sausage, and egg sandwiches with us,” said Odes Foster and Danny Crowe, spokesmen. “Everyone is welcome to gather with us afterwards to worship at 10:30 a.m.”

St. John’s UMC sets Christmas Eve service

St. John’s United Methodist Church, Summit at Hillcrest in Rockdale, will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24, with communion, according to Rev. Adam Straznicky, pastor.

“The public is cordially invited to attend this beautiful service,” Rev. Straznicky said.

Thrift store volunteers listed through December

Rockdale Christian Services Heavenly Treasures thrift store, serving the needy at 233 North Main Street, is staffed by volunteers from RCS member churches. Volunteer assignments for churches are:

Dec. 19, Mt. Zion Baptist; Dec. 20, Grace Lutheran; Dec. 24 through Jan. 6, closed for holidays (reopen Jan. 7).—Judy Brown, volunteer chair

Next men’s breakfast

An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.

Next breakfast will be Tuesday, Jan. 14 at First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa Avenue.

“Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the Rockdale area are invited,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.
