Westbrooks win Milano yard decorations contest

Winners have been announc ed in t he annual City of Milano Christmas decoration contest and the home of Gary and Glenda Westbrook has taken top prize. Second place went to Debra Gage and third place was Steve and Mary Honeycutt.

Be sure to take a ride around our town and see all the great decorations people put out this year. They are lovely.

The Milano Elementary annual Christmas program on Dec. 18 was wonderful as always. Dixie Willingham out did herself again with a great concert. I love how the kiddos’ personalities come out when they are on stage in front of hundreds of people. It was a treat.

Milano ISD students and staff are on vacation until after the new year. Classes will resume at normal times on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Yearbooks for 2014 are now on sale. This year’s theme is “#Life@Milano.” The cost is $25, but will be increasing in January. Order online today at www.balfour.com.

Members of the Milano Volunteer Fire Department have begun their annual fund-raiser. Tickets can be purchased from any MVFD member. They are one for $5 for six for $25. Prizes include: Henry Golden Boy 22 caliber mag., two Taurus Public Defender .45-410, Henry Golden Boy 22 caliber long rifle, Remington 700 .270, Marlin 336w 30-30, Remington 870 shotgun, H and R Pardner shotgun, Mossberg 817 17 MHR, $100 Academy gift card.

Drawings will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8. All prizes received in gift cards. Winners pay sales tax and need not be present to win.

4-H NEWS—At the December meeting of the Milano 4-H Club, they celebrated Christmas with a gift exchange and meal following the meeting.

They discussed selling some more of the glow sticks, the Dec. 18 4-H dance, who was showing pigs for the Milam County Junior Livestock Show and who was doing livestock judging.

After the meeting, members played the Chinese Christmas gift exchange game and enjoyed pigs-in-a-blanket, cookies and marshmallow treats.
