Suicide ruling expected in Milano-area incident; rollover claims
There were two deaths on Milam County roadways in the first week of the new year.
Bushra Al-Muaala, 19, of Missouri City, died Thursday as the results of an incident south of Milano originally listed as a hit-and-run, but now a suicide ruling is anticipated, according to investigators. Full Story
Constable cites health reasons, resigns post
Primary winner will be named successor
Milam County Precinct 3 Constable Carol Wells, in office almost exactly one year, has resigned her post.
County Judge Dave Barkemeyer said a successor won’t be named until after the March 4 Republican Primary.
Wells, a Republican, did not seek re-election. Full Story

Earns parents over $800 in gifts from firms, organizations
Jacee Filomena Gonzales is Rockdale’s first baby of 2014.
The first baby, daughter of Ashley Roberts and Lawrence Gonzales of Rockdale, made her arrival at 5:45 p.m. Friday (Jan. 3) at St. David’s Georgetown.
She weighed 5 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 17-1/2 inches.
Jaycee was delivered by Dr. John Sherman. Full Story
