Jackson

ADA, Oklahoma— Services for Richard Dean Jackson, 56, of Ada, Oklahoma, were held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Ada Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jim Knight officiating. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall, Oklahoma.

Mr. Jackson died Wednesday, Jan. 1, at his home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1957, in Rockdale to Monora and I.B. Bounds Jackson.

Mr. Jackson attended Rockdale schools and also Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, for four years.

He married Sherry June Sliger on Sept. 12, 1980, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 2008.

Mr. Jackson was a forklift operator for George Fisher Manufacturing Co. and a member of Ada Church of the Nazarene.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Andy Jackson.

Survivors include a son, Jarrod Jackson of Ada, Oklahoma; a daughter, Jayce Jackson of Ada, Oklahoma; two sisters, Barbara Sue Needham and husband Billy of Cameron, Rosemary Gerthe and husband Chris of Ruidoso, New Mexico; a brother, Johnny Jackson and wife Sandy of Rockdale; and a granddaughter, Payten Pratt.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Eric Gerthe, Deiter Gerthe, Chad Sliger, Chris Sliger, Robert Long and Sean Childress.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Ada Church of the Nazarene: Kent Lee, Darrell Langwell, Terry Lee, Eric Lee and Bryan Lee.
