Munoz

Funeral mass for Richard Munoz, 61, of Rockdale was held Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale. Burial followed in F.A. Hernandez Cemetery in Cameron. Rev. Daniel Garcia officiated.

Mr. Munoz died Thursday, Jan. 2, at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown.

He was born April 2, 1952, in Cameron to Trinidad (Jaramillo) Munoz and Ernesto Munoz.

Mr. Munoz was a 1970 graduate of Rockdale High School and had attended Temple College.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mr. Munoz served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam from August 1970 to August 1974. He was an avionics electrician with the Third Marine Air Wing and was a member of the Top Gun Team at Miramar, California, in November 1972.

Mr. Munoz worked for Dyn- Corp at Fort Hood and was a member of the modification team traveling the southeastern U.S. modifying Army aircraft. He also worked for Xerox Corp. as a technician and was facilities engineer at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mr. Munoz was preceded in death by his father, Ernesto Munoz on Sept. 12, 1999.

Survivors are a son, Francisco Roman Munoz of Mexico City, Mexico; a daughter, Christina Rose Munoz of Dallas; his mother, Trinidad Munoz of Rockdale; a grandson, Daniel Scott Connelly III; a sister, Doris Peart and husband George of Dallas; two brothers, Ernest Munoz Jr. and wife Lonita, David Munoz and wife Janie, all of Dallas; and three half-brothers, Rene Munoz of Hope, Arkansas, Larry Cruz of Granger, Jerry Cruz of Rockdale.

Pallbearers were Jason Varela, Jarod James Munoz, Vincent Munoz, Ernest Munoz, Jacob John Munoz and Raymond Munoz Jr.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
