Milano NHS holding blood drive Monday

MILANO—The Milano High School National Honor Society will host a blood drive on Monday, Jan. 27, sponsor John Hughes announced.

The drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. in the school’s old band hall.

Miller earns degree from Baylor University

WACO— Breanna Leigh Miller, of Rockdale, received her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University on Dec. 21 during fall graduation ceremonies.

Miller earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in journalism.

Area students named to A&M fall honors list

COLLEGE STATION— Several area students were named to the fall semester Dean’s Honor Roll at Texas A&M University that recognizing them for outstanding academic performance.

The Dean’s Honor Roll recognizes students taking at least 15 semester hours during the fall semester who have maintained a 3.75 or higher grade point (GPR) out of a possible 4.0.

A second designation, “ Distinguished Student,” recognizes those who earned a 3.5 to 3.74 GPR while taking at least 15 hours for the fall semester.

Area residents included on the honor list were:

• Soledad Or tega, Cameron, senior, interdisciplinar y studies major, Distinguished.

• Ryan D. Wise, Cameron, sophomore, Biology major, Distinguished.

• Chase W. Dube, Lexington, senior, mechanical engineering major.

• Kylie T. Hrozek, Cameron, junior, health major.

• Darla L. Martinez, Cameron, senior, interdisciplinar y studies major.

Band booster spaghetti supper set Feb. 3

Rockdale Band Boosters will hold their biggest fund-raiser of the year from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 in the Rockdale Junior High commons area.

The annual spaghetti supper will also include performances by all Rockdale ISD bands.

Plates are priced at $8 per person. “To-go” plates will be available at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets are available by contacting RISD High School and Junior High band members.

Tickets for the supper will be available at the door Feb. 3 as long as the food lasts. For more info, contact Monette Schweitzer, 512-760-6118, or band directors Adrian Acevedo and Kevin Stehr.

Big Blue Band headed to Disney World in June

Members of the Rockdale High School “Big Blue Band from Tiger Land” are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida on June 8-14 and are currently looking for individuals and businesses to help fund the experience.

“We will be making band trip T-shirts to help promote our trip and at same time advertise our sponsors on them,” RISD director of bands Adrian Acevedo said.

Sponsorships are due in by Feb. 27 and can be sent in to PO Box 632, Rockdale TX 76567.

Caffey on Dean’s List at Texas State University

SAN MARCOS— Colton Caffey, of Rockdale, made the Dean’s List for at Texas State University for the Fall 2013 semester.

His grade point average was a 3.75 and he is majoring in general business.

Caffey is the son of Derek and April Caffey and grandson of Charles and Neva Caffey, all of Rockdale.
