Milano NHS to host blood drive on Monday at school

Milano Junior High’s One- Act Play cast and crew won first place in district competition on Thursday with their performance of sf “The Diviners.” The contest was held in the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center at Temple College.
Kaleb Dodd won best actor of the meet. Kyle King, Emilie Compton and Amanda Storey were named to the all-star cast. Treabeaux Broussard and Keaton Popham earned honorable mention all- star cast honors. MJH also was named “best crew” with members Brock Gage, Caleb Stevenson, Trevor Grimes, Kenna Bounds, Manuel Garcia.
A public performance of the play was to be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 in the Milano High School cafetorium.
Next Milano Athletic Booster Club meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 in the elementary school cafeteria. The group will clean and organize the baseball concession stand following the meeting. There will be a number of current officers leaving the board at the end of this year, with kids graduating. They encourage anyone who might be interested in serving in future years to join now in preparation for “passing the torch” when it’s time.
Also, the annual alumni softball tournament is scheduled for Saturday, March 22.
Members of the Milano Volunteer Fire Department have began their annual fund-raiser. Tickets can be purchased from any MVFD member. They are one or $5 for six for $25.
Prizes include: Henry Golden Boy 22 caliber mag., two Taurus Public Defender .45-410, Henry Golden Boy 22 caliber long rifle, Remington 700 .270, Marlin 336w 30- 30, Remington 870 shotgun, H&R Pardner shotgun, Mossberg 817 17 MHR, $100 Academy gift card.
Drawing will be held at 7:30 p. m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the MVFD’s annual chili supper. All prizes received in gift cards. Winners pay sales tax and need not be present to win.
