Band booster spaghetti supper set Monday
Rockdale Band Boosters will hold their biggest fund-raiser of the year from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 in the Rockdale Junior High commons area.
The annual spaghetti supper will also include performances by all Rockdale ISD bands.
Plates are priced at $8 per person. “ To-go” plates will be available at 4:30 p.m. Full Story

Gonzalez graduates from West Texas A&M
CANYON—William Richard Gonzalez graduated from Texas Texas A&M University on Dec. 13 with a bachelor’s degree in Health & Science. Attending the ceremony were his parents Victor and Mary Jo Bocanegra, of Rockdale, his sister Olivia and his aunt Lisa Johnston, of Temple. Full Story
Ammon on Dean’s List at Southwestern Univ.
GEORGETOW N— Emi l y Ammon, of Rockdale, has been named to the Dean’s List at Southwestern University for the fall 2013 semester.
To be selected, students must have at least a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale with at least 12 graded hours and be in good standing with the university. Full Story
Big Blue Band headed to Disney World in June
Members of the Rockdale High School “ Big Blue Band from Tiger Land” are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida on June 8-14 and are currently looking for individuals and businesses to help fund the experience. Full Story
Kevin Cooke (L) and Josh Jones won the CX debate district championship on Saturday. This year’s topic, which asks debaters to discuss the economics benefits of trading with Cuba, Mexico or Venezuela, has proven to be a great one. The boys are excited to gather new evidence and head to state competition in March. Full Story

Free, community meal offered Saturday by AWOL
A new community outreach event will be held on Saturday and it is free of charge. Milano area residents are invited to a free homecooked meal starting at noon on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Milano High School cafeteria and will be provided by “Arms Wide Open in Love” or AWOL. Full Story

Rockdale’s McCoy needs votes to get on HLRS stage
Emily McCoy, of Rockdale, is needing your help as she competes for the chance to sing at the 2014 Houston Livestock Show, according to her mother Yvette McCoy.
The voting has opened to determine the top 10 finalist who will perform on March 11 in front of live judges. The judges determine the top 5 who will perform on March 18 in Reliant Stadium. Full Story
Fundraiser deemed success
Thanks to all of you who supported the Gause Baptist Church youth fundraiser dinner this past Sunday. It was a huge success. Proceeds will go to help pay for a mission trip to Tennessee that the group will be making this summer. Full Story
MCT sets annual Gala
Milam Community Theater will hold its annual members- only Gala and General Membership Meeting beginning at 6 p. m. Saturday, February 15 at the Williams Event Center in Cameron.
The Gala includes a silent auction that features works from local artists, a fine dinner and a rather impromptu production from MCT’s merry band of actors. Full Story
