Fundraiser deemed success

Thanks to all of you who supported the Gause Baptist Church youth fundraiser dinner this past Sunday. It was a huge success. Proceeds will go to help pay for a mission trip to Tennessee that the group will be making this summer.

Had a chance this past week to visit with Tristan Carmichael. I didn’t recognize him, been a few years since I have seen him. He and his family are living here in Gause in his grandparents, Miss Ethel (and as Lance called him “Mr. Ethel”) and Raymond Slay’s home. Glad that they decided to settle here in Gause.

Gause junior high boys basketball team participated in the Thorndale tournament on Saturday and won championship in the seventh grade division.

Next home game will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 against Bryan-St. Joseph Catholic. Both girls and boys teams will play.

Gause school students and staff had the day off this past Friday due to our winter storm. Hope that was the only one we have this winter. Too cold and messy. I’m ready for warm weather, and you’re right I’ll be complaining about that too.

Several in the community are still having f lu, colds and all the wintertime aches. Hope everyone is feeling better and the illnesses are on the decline.
