The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department’s ‘All Fired Up’ fundraiser at The Ranch on Friday night was another huge success. RVFD members cooked, waited tables and tended bar for tips. Milam’s jobless rate falls for second straight month
Texas, U.S. numbers also fall for month
AUSTIN— Unemployment rates for most of the area saw a decrease for the second straight month, according to numbers released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) on Friday.
Milam County’s December non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was at 6.3 percent, compared with 6.6 in November. It was 6.7 for October. Full Story

CAMERON—New and updated property tax information has just been compiled by Milam Appraisal District and is available now to assist taxpayers. This property tax information is current and covers a wide range of topics, such as taxpayer remedies, exemptions and appraisals, and is of value to select groups, such as disabled veterans and persons who are age 65 and older. POSGCD to hold public hearing on amending rules
Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) will hold a public hearing on the “Rules of Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District” at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 20.
The board of directors will consider amending the rules at the board meeting following the public hearing. Full Story

Communities in Concert Band resumes rehearsals on Sundays
Group welcomes new musicians to join in ‘fun effort’
After a short break from holiday performances, the Communities in Concert Band has resumed regular rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. Sundays in Peace Lutheran Church fellowship hall.
Band members come from area communities, representing a wide variety of ages, to play a broad spectrum of band music and perform at every opportunity. Full Story
