Communities in Concert Band resumes rehearsals on Sundays

Group welcomes new musicians to join in ‘fun effort’

After a short break from holiday performances, the Communities in Concert Band has resumed regular rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. Sundays in Peace Lutheran Church fellowship hall.

Band members come from area communities, representing a wide variety of ages, to play a broad spectrum of band music and perform at every opportunity.

“All that is needed to join is a love of music and an instrument,” band president Bob Burnett said. “It’s okay if you are rusty; all of us have been there. No auditions are required.”

The group’s next scheduled performance is at the Kay Theater during Tejas Festival on March 22. The band will play a selection of patriotic music, songs from movies and classical pieces, as well as some old favorites.

In December, the band played Christmas music at the Rockdale Residence & Rehab Center, Thorndale’s annual tree-lighting ceremony and at the Kay Theater for the first annual “Christmas at the Kay” concert.

“Please rejoin us at rehearsals if you have been gone for awhile,” Burnett said. “And if you’ve always wanted to get involved, this is a great time. Call or email me to make sure there are no changes to our rehearsal schedule and to make sure I will have music ready for your type of instrument.”

Burnett can be reached at 512- 446-5087 or burnettrl_ 2000@yahoo.com.
