TACC announces spring events

‘Meet the candidates’ set for February 10

The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) met in their regular monthly meeting on Jan. 22 and set the following spring events.

A “Meet the Candidate” forum will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10 in the TACC building in downtown Thorndale. All Milam County candidates up for election will be invited. There is no charge to attend the meeting and we look forward to all citizens of Milam County being in attendance.

This meeting is to help inform the general public on the issues and candidates who will represent Milam County in the future. Please make every effort to attend this meeting as we will have candidates from both the Democratic and Republican parties who will be given equal time to address the group. Following the formal presentations, a time of visiting with each candidate individually will be held.

Light refreshments will be served and the TACC looks forward to presenting this community service forum. Call Darleen Tucker at 512-898-2727 if you have question regarding this event.

The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce will also host their annual awards open house on Tuesday, March 18 at the TACC building where we will honor our outstanding citizens for 2013. TACC members should watch for the ballot to nominate someone in each of the categories. The votes will be counted and the winners will be announced at the open house.

This year the TACC wi l l announce our outstanding student at the end of the school year ceremonies. Help us honor those citizens who contribute in so many ways to our community.

Saturday, March 22 will feature the Louis Run motorcycle event. The run will include a street dance following the run and other activities. Brian Morton is the contact person for the Louis Run and may be reached at 512-658-5378. Watch for more information as plans are finalized.

On Saturday, April 19, the TACC will host their annual car show, quilt show and arts and crafts fair. These events will take place in downtown Thorndale. The car show contact person is Allen Hejl at 512-905-3038. Darleen Tucker and Donna Johnston are co-chairpersons for the quilt show and you may reach Darleen at 512- 898-2727 and Donna, of Quilting by Donna Lou, at 512-898-2649.

Watch for more information on this event as they become available. The arts and crafts fair will be held on the downtown sidewalk areas. For more information and to reserve a spot for your booth, call Susan Drabek at 512-269- 8796. We look forward to having a wide selection of vendors for arts and crafts, food and much more.

The Thorndale Revue is upcoming on June 26, the same week as the Thorndale Volunteer Firemen BBQ Cookoff scheduled for June 27-28. Mark your calendar and look for more information as the time draws nearer.

The TACC takes individual memberships as well as business memberships. The next meeting of the TACC will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the TACC building and visitors are always welcome.
