La Escuelita, St. Joseph Cemetery Association to meet
La Escuelita/St. Joseph Cemetery Association will hold a meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the La Escuelita grounds, weather permitting, according to spokesperson Dee Lerma.
Agenda for the meeting includes dues and planning the annual cook-off in April.

Milano Lions invite public to talk on historic preservation
MILANO—Anyone interested in historic preservation should plan to attend the Thursday, Feb. 6 meeting of the Milano Lions Club.
Milam County native Stan Graves will speak on “Historic Preservation in Milam County and Beyond.”
Graves had a Texas-size impact on historic preservation in Texas during his 26 years as Director of the Architecture Division of the Texas Historical Commission.
Graves created and directed the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program – the program responsible for Milam County Courthouse’s reconstruction, along with many others.
He was also highly involved in restoring the Texas Governor’s Mansion after the 2008 fire.
All interested persons are invited. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Milano Civic Center in downtown Milano.
Milano VFD chili fund-raiser Saturday
MILANO—The annual Milano Volunteer Fire Department chili supper fund-raiser is set for Saturday, Feb. 8 at the group’s new station/shelter, located on US 79, according to assistant chief Travis Yoakum.
Serving will start at 4 p.m. until sold out and is $7 per bowl for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Live music will be provided from 5-7 p.m. by Lynn Martin and friends and a silent auction will held. At 7 p.m. there will be a live auction, followed by the group’s annual drawing fund-raiser.
Firemen are selling tickets for $5 each or 6 for $25. Prizes are: Henry Golden Boy 22 caliber mag., two Taurus Public Defender .45-410, Henry Golden Boy 22 caliber long rifle, Remington 700 .270, Marlin 336w 30-30, Remington 870 shotgun, H&R Pardner shotgun, Mossberg 817 17 MHR, $100 Academy gift card. All prizes received in gift cards. Winners pay sales tax and need not be present to win.
Linwood Acres to meet February 12
Linwood Acres Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the home of Sandy Glaser, 1692 E. Hwy 79, according to Mary Phillips, reporter.
Coffee will be served at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting will start at 10. Jeanette Hudson will present the program about gardening books and nurseries to visit.

Milano Lions set pancake supper
MILANO—The Milano Evening Lions Club will host its annual pancake supper on Saturday, March 1 at the Milano Civic Center.
Serving will take place from 5-7 p.m., with the evening also including a silent auction and live music from Lynn Martin and friends.
Proceeds from the event will help fund the club’s scholarship program.
