St. John’s annual chili feed Thursday

The Methodist Men of St. John’s United Methodist Church will hold their annual chili supper Thursday, Feb. 20, serving from 5 until 7 p.m. in fellowship hall, priced at $7.

“The public is invited to enjoy great chili and fellowship,” Rev. Adam Straznicky, pastor, said. Desserts will also be available.

Women’s Bible study— Sara Straznicky will lead a Beth Moore Bible Study at St. John’s Methodist Church, starting the first week of Lent, Wednesday, March 12, from 10 a.m. until noon. The 10-week study is “Jesus, the One and Only.”

Apostolic to host next men’s breakfast

An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.

Next breakfast will be Tuesday, March 11 at Apostolic Faith Church, 400 West Davilla. Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the area are invited, according to Bill Avrett, spokesman.

St. Paul BBQ meal, auction set Sunday

THORNDALE—St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Thorndale will hold its annual church meal and auction Sunday, Feb. 23 at the Fireman’s Hall, spokesperson Teresa Ging announced.

Barbecue plates with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $9 a plate, said Teresa Ging, publicist. Dine-in or to-go plates will be available. For senior citizen delivery, call 512-898-2257. Proceeds will go to the general fund.

An auction will follow the meal featuring hand-crafted items, baked goods and items for all ages. To donate auction items, call 512-898-2711.

Thrivent Financial will provide matching funds, Ging said.

RSBC sets pastor appreciation Sunday

Rising Star Baptist Church will hold its Pastor and Wife Appreciation at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 with guest speaker Pastor Richard Coaxum and congregation of St. Mary’s, Pflugerville. Everyone invited.

• Hat sale—The church will host a “Hat’-itude” hat sale for women and girls from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. Sales will benefit the parking lot fund.

Rockdale Christian Services thrift store, Heavenly Treasures, serving the needy at 233 North Main Street, is staffed with volunteers from RCS member churches. Assignments for February are:

Worship workshop at Newfound Life

“The Time is Now” will be the theme for a worship workshop from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1 at Newfound Life Worship Center, 210 Houston Street in Rockdale, Pastor Mike Zapata has announced.

Music ministers John and Kimberli Gonzales will be the teachers. Topics will include “What is True Worship?”, “Praising and War”, “One God, One Pastor, One Vision, One Team” and “Heaven on Earth.”

Taylor church sets landmark celebration

TAYLOR—The First Baptist Church, located at Third and Robinson Streets in Taylor, invites the public to its Historical Landmark Celebration at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.

The church will celebrate 130 years of service.
