Clinics set move to ‘old H-E-B’
LRHC, grocery firm close deal on Friday
The “old H-E-B building,” vacant for almost nine years, is coming back to life in a big way.
Little River Health Care Network (LRHC) has confirmed it has purchased the building and will move all four of its Rockdale clinics into the 22,500-square-foot structure. Full Story
Many of South Milam County’s law enforcement and emergency personnel were enjoying the annual Knights of Columbus Law Enforcement Appreciation Night at 6:45 p.m. Monday in the KC Hall when two 18-wheelers collided about five miles away on US 77 just south of FM 908. About one-fourth of those present, including more than a dozen members of the Rockdale VFD, responded. Full Story
Dad-daughter dance Friday at KC Hall
Rockdale Athletic Booster Club will hold the seventh annual Father-Daughter Dance benefiting its scholarship fund from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the KC Hall.
Tickets are $15 per couple in advance and will be $20 per couple at the doors (additional daughters $5 each). All ages are welcome. Full Story
Early voting continues
253 cast ballots on first day; Saturday session set
Early voting is in full swing throughout Milam County for March 4 Republican and Democratic Primaries with 253 casting ballots Tuesday, the first day, and through the mail.
There’s a special weekend, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. early ballot day on Saturday at the Milam County Clerk’s office in Cameron. Full Story
Chamber seeks nominees for annual banquet awards
Feb. 28 is deadline to submit names
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for awards to be presented at the 2014 banquet which is set for March 27.
Deadline to submit an award nominee is Feb. 28, according to Chamber secretary Denise Brock.

Rockdale volunteer firefighters Mike Korenek (left) is all smiles as he heads to the podium Saturday in the KC Hall to receive his 35-year pin, plus a rousing standing ovation, at the combined Officer-of-the-Year/Firefighter-of-the-Year banquet. Korenek is a former RVFD chief, was firefighter-of-theyear in 1983 and is an organizer for the department’s annual fund raiser. Full Story

West Ward City Councilman Doug Calame signed up to seek another term on Wednesday and Lin Perry, Place 6 school trustee, signed up on Tuesday.
