Nine sentenced in 20th District Court action
CAMERON—Nine persons were sentenced last week in 20th District Court, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey, who listed case dispositions:
• Jose David Salazar, 25, Rockdale pleaded guilty to assault on a public servant, two-year prison term.
• Joe Ramos III, 21, Rockdale, pleaded guilty to burglary of a building, 15-month state jail term. Full Story
Drug sweep suspect now facing weapon charges
A 28-year-old Rockdale resident who was one of several persons arrested in a Feb. 7 drug sweep was re-arrested five days later.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said Sedderick Alcorn was arrested after police obtained photos of the suspect with a prohibited weapon. Full Story

Prizes listed in law enforcement night
For the second time in three evenings, the KC Hall hosted area law enforcement and emergency personnel on Monday.
Knights of Columbus Council 7014 hosted its annual law enforcement chili supper which drew a good crowd, at least until a major highway accident five miles away, a half hour into the event, called a substantial number of those present into duty. (See page 1A). Full Story

‘New’ Relay event scheduled April 5 at Apache Pass

Tickets on sale for Mardi Gras event
CAMERON—Tickets are on sale for next week’s second annual Mardi Gras bash to raise funds for the Christine Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund was set up in honor of the late Christine Holcombe, an extension agent in Milam County for over 30 years and a volunteer in many area civic organizations who passed away last year from breast cancer. Parent club sponsoring book fair through Friday
Remember this week, Feb. 18-21, the Gause Parents Club is sponsoring its annual book fair. This will be held in the school library. Go and buy a child you know a book.
On Friday, Feb. 28 the Gause Junior High student council will sponsor the annual Mardi Gras dance for the junior high students in the school gym. Full Story
