Oil thieves slick in Walmart theft

POLICE REPORT

It was a rare light week for Rockdale police but not for some enterprising shoplifters at Super Walmart.

“They managed to load up a shopping card with 25 five-quart bottles of motor oil and push it out of the store,” Lt. J. D. Newlin said.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

ARREST—In the week’s only felony arrest, 24-yearold Kendra Gilligan of Milano was picked up on a warrant for bail jumping/ failure to appear.

She was transferred to custody of the sheriff’s department.

ACCIDENTS—Vehicles operated by Makayla Trevino of Taylor and Tracy Mitchell of Fairfield were in collision at 2:19 p.m. Sunday at the Cameron-Main intersection.

Police said vehicles driven by Darvin Mantey and Lee Jenkins Sr. were in collision at the intersection of Main and Bell at 4:01 p.m. Friday.

Police said an accident at the Scarbrough-Bell corner at 3:40 p.m. Friday involved vehicles operated by Jerry Cranford and Joshua Gerren, both of Rockdale.

CITATIONS—Police issued 45 speeding tickets during the week along with 12 for no liability insurance, seven for expired registration, six each for failure to signal turn and expired MVI sticker, two for permitting unlicensed driver to drive and one each for failure to secure child with safety belt and possession of alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 119 total calls for service during the past week and 112 calls were received through the 911 system.
