Wise newest POSGCD director

CAMERON—Milam County’s contingency on the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) board is back at its full five-person strength after commissioners voted Monday to make Steven Wise of Cameron its newest member.

Vote was 3-2. County Judge Dave Barkemeyer and commissioners John Fisher and Tank Balch voted for Wise, while commissioners Kenneth Hollas and Jeff Fisher voted for former POSGCD director Jay Tumlinson of Cameron.

Wise replaces Carroll Glaser of Rockdale, who resigned.

Beginning last fall, commissioners adopted a policy voting on nominees from the public.

In November, commissioners re-appointed Kerry Starnes and also named Sidney Youngblood and Durwood Tucker.

Both Wise and Tumlinson received votes from commissioners in November.

Dwayne Jekel continues serve as the fifth Milam director.
