RISD ‘public school week’ events planned

There are still plenty of events to catch during the remainder of “Texas Public Schools Week” at Rockdale ISD, according to assistant superintendent Pam Kaufmann.

At Rockdale Elementary, there is: “Grub for Grandparents” breakfast, 7:30-8 a.m., Thursday; PreK “Mini Open House” for parents, noon, Thursday, picnic lunch on the grassy area for PreK parents and students only; First grade “Texas Program,” 1:30 p.m., RHS Gym.

At the intermediate school: Grandparents’ breakfast, 7:20-7:50 a.m. Friday; “read-ins” in third through fifth grades all week; fourth grade parent/student read-in form 8:15-9 a.m. Friday. Please contact the school at 512-430-6200 if you would like to participate.

Rockdale Junior High will hold its annual Family Science and Art Night starting at 6 p.m.

An honor roll breakfast will be held at 7:45 p.m. Friday, March 7 at Rockdale High School for that cam- pus’ students.

Coker earns degree from U of H

HOUSTON—Christina Coker, of Rockdale, was among more than 2,900 students who graduated from the University of Houston (UH) for the fall 2013 semester held Dec. 20 at Hofheinz Pavilion.

Coker graduated with a Bachelor of Science in retailing and consumer science.

People-to-People fundraiser March 21

A fundraiser dance for Tanner Willems’ People to-People trip is set for Friday, March 21. Willems is set to attend the group’s European Discovery trip this summer.

The fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m. March 21 at The Ranch in Rockdale. Brooke Graham is set to perform. A silent auction and 50/50 drawing are also planned.
