County Judge Dave Barkemeyer won another term in that post Tuesday, out-polling challenger Frank Summers 1,517-1,230 in the Milam County Republican Primary.

Shredder visit ahead on Friday
A commercial shredder will be back in Rockdale on Friday, according to Chamber secretary Denise Brock, in a community service project sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club.

Tejas March 21 reception tickets now on sale
A limited number of advance tickets are now on sale for the Friday, March 21, reception with the Almost Patsy Cline Band at the historic Kay Theatre.
That kicks off the 2014 Tejas Art & Book Festival, which will feature a number of writers in schools and at several downtown venues.

Dustin Pickel passes away quietly Tuesday
Dustin Pickel, the threeyear old whose brave fight against an insidious form of cancer galvanized an entire community into action, died Tuesday.
Dustin, the son of Jeff and Kelly Shoemake Pickel— and grandson of (former Rockdale Mayor) John and Sharon Shoemake— passed away at 4:40 p.m. at his grandparents’ house in Rockdale. Full Story
