Kay getting state marker

Rockdale’s historic 67-year-old Kay Theater will dedicate its Recorded Texas History Landmark at 10 a.m. March 15.

“This designation by the Texas Historical Commission is the highest honor conveyed by the commission on landmarks of special importance in Texas history,” Les Davenport, Kay Theater Foundation chair, said.

The theater dates back to 1947 when E. L. Bryan and Foy Arrington started the business, named in honor of Arrington’s daughter, Katherine.
