Second annual scholarship fund-raiser in honor of late Milam County extension agent Christine Holcombe draws 200 people, raises $19,000
Over 200 people piled into the Simon George Hall in Cameron and helped raise $19,000 in the second annual Mardi Gras Bash held for the Christine Holcombe Memorial Scholarship. The event included Cajun food, kids games, beads, masks, door prizes, along with live and silent auctions. Full Story

Florida Boys coming to Milano March 14
Milano Senior Citizens will hold a gospel singing variety show by the new Florida Boys at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 14 in the Milano Civic Center. Family group tickets are $15, with other individual tickets at $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets will be available at the door. Whitmore piano students get stellar marks in competition
Local piano students recently played in the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Junior Festival held at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Belton, according to their piano teacher, Dixie Whitmore.

Brent and Stephanie Jones announce the bir th of their twins on Jan. 31, 2014, at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. Kaden Ewing Jones was born at 7:58 a.m., weighing 6.5 pounds and measuring 19 ½ inches. Karson Dean Jones was born at 7:59 a.m., weighing 5.12 pounds and measuring 19¼ inches. Family thankful for ‘passer by’
I do not know why Mack Popham was in Gause last Tuesday, but he was a God Send. He was driving by when he saw that Kim and Kendall Lee’s mobile home was on fire. The home was a loss but clothes and a few other items were saved. Thanks to a precious lady here in town, they have a house to stay in . Benefit for Rex Anders March 22 in Thorndale
THORNDALE—A dinner auction-dance fund-raiser to benefit Rex Anders will be held Saturday, March 22 at Fireman’s Hall in Thorndale.
Tickets for the full event are $20 (pre-sale only). Tickets for the meal only are $10 each.
The meal will be brisket and sausage with all the trimmings, with serving to begin at 5 p.m.
