God meets all needs
During World War II Ernest Gordon, a native of Scotland and formerly Dean of the Chapel at Princeton University, was stationed in Sumatra when it was captured by the Japanese. He managed to escape in a sailboat with eight others, but after 24 days on the Indian Ocean they were recaptured by the Japanese navy. Full Story

Rev. Chelf, First Baptist pastor since 2002, will retire effective June 1
Rev. Jack Chelf, pastor of First Baptist Church in Rockdale for the past 12 years, has announced to his congregation that he will retire effective June 1. He said he will conduct his last service here on Sunday, May 25.
Rev. Chelf and wife LeAnne plan to retire to their farm home near Crockett in Houston County. Full Story

Women on Mission
Women on Mission of First Baptist Church met March 9 and heard a missionary focus presented by Elaine Holliman, Laura Gary, Faye Simpson, Barbara Clark, Elaine Simpson, Dolores Sonntag and Jane Robinson. Others attending were Gladys Roberts and Lucile Estell. The Week of Prayer for North American Missions culminated in offerings for Annie Armstrong. Full Story
