Youth deliver service projects
Two hundred and twenty one stuffed animals were delivered to the Military 4-H on March 12 by Milam County 4-H. This brings our total to over 6,000 stuffed animals donated. The military 4-H distributes the stuffed animals to children of military families who have a parent being deployed overseas.
This is an ongoing community service project to collect new or gently used stuffed animals. If you have stuffed animals you can drop them off at the Extension Office or contact the project leader Susan Dean. Susan and her son Patrick clean and package the animals.
Also on March 12, Milam County delivered can tabs along with food, paper products and other items to the Temple Ronald McDonald House. 4-Hers from across the county collected items to help support the charity. Throughout the year, anyone is welcome to drop off can tabs to help with the project. The Ronald McDonald House sells the tabs to provide needed assistance of the facility. All help is appreciated.
The Milam County 4-H horse judging teams competed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 10. There were 50 teams and 163 individuals in the contest. They judged performance classes and halter classes. Competitors then were required to present a set of reasons to the judges.
