Chamber banquet ahead March 27th

The 62nd annual Rockdale Chamber of Commerce Banquet is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the junior-high commons.

For the second straight year, speaker will be Jim Reed, executive director of the Central Texas Council of Governments.

Entertainment will be provided by the Rockdale High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Adrian Acevedo.

Theme for the 2014 banquet is “Next Level Communities: Engagement for Excellence ” according to Denise Brock, Chamber secretary.

Awards will be given for citizen of the year, outstanding citizen, business of the year, organization of the year and ambas- sador of the year.

Those will be presented by Janice King, past Chamber president.

United Way supporter awards will be presented by Denice Doss.

“We have some new awards this year,” Brock said. “Rockdale ISD students have been selected to receive leadership awards and they will be announced during the banquet.”

Tickets are $20 each and are being sold in advance at the Chamber office, Brock said.

“Also, gold and silver sponsorship tables may be reserved by calling the Chamber at 446-2030.”
