When he was five years old, Les Davenport, chairman of the Kay Theater Foundation board, saw “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” in the historic theater.

Country Gospel Jamboree set March 30 in Giddings
Tired of what is passing for music on today’s TV and radio? If so, plan to attend the second annual Country Gospel Jamboree, to be held Sunday, March 30 at the Giddings High School auditorium. The opry-style show kicks off at 7 p.m., hosted by Second Chance, the band of the Lee County Cowboy Church. Admission is free and $5 hamburger plates will be available. Full Story
A group of Milam County teens placed second at the second annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Afternoon Ryde musical contest on Saturday at Headhunters/Metal & Lace in Austin. The event was presented by the Texas Artist Showcase. Full Story
Benefit for Rex Anders Saturday in Thorndale
THORNDALE— A dinner auction- dance fundra i ser to benef it Rex Anders will be held Saturday, March 22 at Fireman’s Hall in Thorndale.
Tickets for the full event are $ 20 ( pre- sale only). Tickets for the meal only are $10 each.
The meal will be brisket and sausage with all the trimmings, with serving to begin at 5 p.m.

MHS Project Grad chicken dinner Sunday at KC Hall
Milano High School’s Project Graduation group will host a chicken dinner Sunday, March 23 at the KC Hall in Rockdale. The dinner plates cost $8 each and will include chicken half, German noodles, green beans, bread, dessert and tea.
