Thorndale Chamber moves awards open house to Thursday

The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Open House will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at the TACC building where we will honor our outstanding citizens for 2013. The votes have been counted and the winners for Citizen of the Year, Business Person of the Year, and Agricultural Person of the Year for 2013 will be announced.

This year the TACC will announce our Outstanding Student at the end of the school year ceremonies.

LOUIS RUN—The next event on our schedule would be the Louis Run, planned for Saturday, March 22, which will feature motorcycles at their finest. The run will begin in Thorndale and include a tour of Central Texas with a return to Thorndale at the end of the event.

Brian Morton is the contact person for the Louis Run and may be reached at 512-658-5378. Watch for more information as posters and banners are being put up all over town. LENDING LIBRARY— TACC would also like to remind everyone that the TACC Lending Library is open to the public on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Make plans to stop by and check out our books and find just the one you have been looking for.

Thanks to all who donated books, TACC appreciates your response to our need. This is a lending library; we do not charge fines and we do not have due dates. Just bring a book and take a book.

SHOW WEEKEND— And don’t forget our annual Car Show, Quilt Show and Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday. April 26. All these events will take place in downtown Thorndale. The car show contact person is Allen Hejl at 512-905-3038.

Darleen Tucker and Donna Johnston are co-chairpersons for the quilt Show and you may reach Tucker at 512-898-2727 and Johnston 512-898-2649. Entry forms have been sent to local quilters and we are expecting a beautiful event for our attendees. If you would like an entry form, contact the co-chairs.

The arts and crafts fair will be held on the downtown sidewalk areas. For more information and to reserve a spot for your booth, call Susan Drabek at 512-269-8796. We look forward to having a wide selection of vendors for arts and crafts, food, and much more. REVUE—The Thorndale Revue is upcoming on June 26, the same week as the Thorndale Volunteer Firemen Barbecue Cookof f scheduled for June 27-28. Mark your calendar and look for more information as the time draws nearer.

NEXT MEETING—The next meeting of the TACC will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 at the TACC building and visitors are welcome.
