Our speaker this year, Jim Reed, Executive Director of Central Texas Council of Governments (CTCOG), laid down a challenging gauntlet to the Chamber and the organizations of Rockdale to take our community to the next level. The Chamber will be doing our part to make this come to fruition. Little River Healthcare has offered to sponsor the initial planning meeting of the ‘Super Committee’ and CTCOG will provide a facilitator for that meeting.
The Chamber of Commerce will be sending out invitations to the major agencies at work in our city asking them to name two participants who will attend an organizational lunch/dinner meeting to discuss the process. Jim’s suggested goals are to make immediate and long-term planning recommendations, to create and develop future economic development work plans, and to source ideas and inspiration for community action and collaboration. These are the goals that will see our community grow and pull together for the good of Rockdale.
The Chamber’s motto for this year is “Partnering for a Better Tomorrow.” We look forward to doing our part to make the City of Rockdale a better place for our generations to come.
We are pleased to have received applications for membership from Michelle Shuffield LMT and Denio’s Furniture.
