Brinkleys

Funeral services for Odis Wayne Brinkley, 67, and Margie Nell Brinkley, 69, of Rockdale will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, in Milam County Cowboy Church, 2100 North Highway 77, in Rockdale with Pastor Greg Spears officiating. Cremation will follow.

Visitation is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Brinkleys died in an automobile accident on Saturday, March 29.

Margie was born Jan. 23, 1945, in Rockdale to Jack and Ola (Doss) Crump.

She was a lifelong resident of Rockdale, a 1963 graduate of Rockdale High School and was an entrepreneur and a real estate business owner.

Mrs. Brinkley was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Jean Skrhak.

Wayne was born March 6, 1947, in Austin to Marvin and Ruby Viola (Brown) Brinkley.

The Brinkleys were married May 7, 1964, in Austin.

Mr. Brinkley served three years in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of sergeant.

After his discharge in May 1969, he worked as a journeyman electrician, attended the police academy and became a Milam County constable.

He was also an entrepreneur and real estate business owner.

Mr. Brinkley was a board member of Cross County Water Supply Corp. and a past board member of Southwest Milam Water Supply Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Wanda Johnson, Mary Boswell and LaVerne Jordanger.

Sur vivors are three children, Greg Brinkley and wife Debbie, Wendy Picket t and Jennifer Strelsky, all of Rockdale; nine grandchildren, Sarah Brinkley, Ethan Brinkley, Emily Brinkley, Taylor Pickett, Chase Pickett, Emma Pickett, Amber Reyes, Katie Strelsky and Dustin Strelsky; two great-grandchildren, Kyrsten Jones and Ayden Reyes; Margie’s brothers, Richard Crump and wife Anita of Rockdale, Robert Crump of Lexington; Margie’s sister, Bonnie Robinson of Rockdale; and Wayne’s brothers, Jerry Brinkley of Austin, Virgil Calaway of Conroe.
