La Escuelita sets egg hunt Saturday

La Escuelita has set its second annual Easter egg hunt for Saturday, April 5 and it is open to the public. It will be held at the La Escuelita grounds on US 79, just east of Rockdale.

Egg hunting will include age divisions 5 and under and 6-10 years.

The gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with hot dogs and punch/tea served from 11 a.m. to noon and the egg hunt from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Music will be provided by Daniel Reynosa.

Casarones (confetti eggs) will be for sale, but in a limited supply, first come, first serve.

MVFD Auxiliary sale set for April 10-12

MILANO— Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will hold its spring garage sale Thursday through Saturday, April 10-12 at the department, 305 East Avenue C, according to spokesperson Carolyn Vinton.

The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 10-11 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12.

Auxiliary members will be at the civic center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday to accept donations.

Someone is also needed to pick up all left-over items after the sale at 1 p.m. on April 12.

Lambda Psi to host scholarship garage sale

CAMERON— Lambda Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators will host a garage sale Saturday, April 5 in Cameron, spokesperson Terry Dennis announced.

The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sam’s Storage, 2203 N. Travis Ave. in Cameron, next to Circle S BBQ.

The sale will raise funds for grant-in-aid scholarship to benefit a female high school senior planning to pursue a career in education, Dennis said.

Reading club meets at Fry residence

Thursday Reading Club met March 13 at the home of Lois Fry where 15 members were served dessert and heard a program by Geri Burnett. She reviewed the short story, “The Key,” by Isaac Bashevis Singer, in keeping with the club’s study program for the year.

Joan Ratliff, president, led the business meeting. Next meeting will be the club’s annual spring trip on April 10. Dr. Lucile Estell has planned a trip to Tyler to see the azaleas.—Dana Caffey, reporter

Medical scholarship deadline April 15

Application forms for the Bootsie Peebles Memorial Medical Scholarship, given annually by the Thursday Reading Club, are available at the Rockdale High School counselor’s office and at The Rockdale Reporter.

The scholarship is available to Milam County graduating seniors or to students already enrolled in the medical field at a college or vocational school.

Applicants must have a permanent Milam County address (can be the address of a parent or guardian). Application deadline is April 15 at the RHS counselor’s office or at The Reporter.

Grief support group meets twice monthly
