Dewberry runners ready to ‘glow’

Dark times are coming for the annual Dewberry Jam Fun Run and Walk.

And that’s a fact. The 15th annual run, sponsored by Alpha Tau Delta service sorority, unreels Saturday night at the Rockdale Country Club.

Runners will race along the cart paths at the country club, which will feature black lights and colorful paints.

All runners are encouraged to wear glow-in-thedark items and some glow items will be included in registration packs.

Also, all persons pre-registering will receive a glowin the dark T-shirt.

REGISTER—There’s still time to pre-register for a $25 fee. That entry fee increases to $30 on race day.

Packet pickup will be in the Hogan-Hall Building at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

All participants will be entered in a door prize drawing.

SCHEDULE—Race day registration will be from 6:30 to 7:50 p.m. April 12 by the country club pool.

The children’s 1K race will begin at 7 p.m.

Age divisions, in both male and female brackets are 5 and under, 6-7, 8-9, Ages 10-12.

All kids run participants receive medals and the top three in each age division will get trophies.

The 5K run gets under way at 8 p.m.

Age divisions are: 13-and-under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.

The 14 previous runs have raised $83,000 for park improvements.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
