MVFD Auxiliary garage sale this weekend at new fire station

This weekend is the Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary’s spring garage sale at the Mi lano Fire Department, located at 305 E. Ave C (US 79). The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Someone is also needed to pick up all left over items after the sale at 1 p.m. on April 12. Mi lano High School’s One Act Play “A Girl Named Opal” will compete at area on Saturday at China Spring High School. There are six plays set to perform. The top two plays will move on to the regional level. MHS play directors are Susan Meyer and Sherry LaGrone.

The third annual Knight Family Scholarship volleyball tournament was said to have been a good time, raising money for scholarships that will be handed out later this spring.

God is surely moving when it comes to the Arms Wide Open in Love (AWOL) community meal served the first Saturday of every month. They distributed over 400 meals around our area on Saturday. This outreach event is growing in droves—what a great thing for Milano. The next feeding is set for May 3. If you want to help volunteer or know of someone that would not be able to attend because of transportation and you would like to add them to the deliver list, call Rebecca Telg at 979-406- 2173 and leave a message with your name and number. You will be contacted for directions to your home.

GOLF TOURNEYS— Milano Masonic Lodge 605 AF& AM will host its 14th annual four-man scramble golf tourney on Saturday, April 26 at Cameron Country Club with tee time at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit the lodge scholarship fund. Entry is $40 per person and prizes will be awarded to first through third-place teams. Four mulligans are available at $5 each. Prizes will also be awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin. The second annual fundraiser golf tournament is planned for Saturday, May 17 to help fund scholarships at Milano High School this spring. It will be a four-man scramble format and will be held at the Rockdale Country Club with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $60 per player or $240 for a four person team and is limited to the first 18 teams. Two mulligans may be purchased per person for $5 each. Single players are welcome and will be paired with a team. Prizes will be given out to the top three teams, as well as for longest drive, closest to pin and hole-in- one. Participants will also be served breakfast and lunch. Entry deadline is May 9.
