Milano’s OAP public performance set April 23 on high school stage

Milano High School’s One- Act Play “A Girl Called Opal” will hold a public performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at the MHS cafetorium. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children. The group competed at area over the weekend but was not picked to advance.

Those winning individual acting awards were Victoria Garcia, best actress and Keely LaGrone and Sherry Pustejovsky, honorable mention all-star cast. The group is directed by Susan Meyer and Sherry LaGrone.

OPRY—The Milano Opry is Saturday at the Milano High School cafetorium. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Special guest this month are Eric Vazquez of Dallas and the Jacob Austin Band. House band members are Billy Barnett, Ab Woods, Rian Castillo, Michael Wall, Gary Beard, Lynn Martin and Donny White. Concessions of hamburgers, barbecue sandwiches and homemade pies will be sold.

GOLF TOURNEYS— Milano Masonic Lodge 605 AF& AM will host its 14th annual four-man scramble golf tourney on Saturday, April 26 at Cameron Country Club with tee time at 9 a.m.

Proceeds benef it the lodge scholarship fund. Entry is $ 40 per person and prizes will be awarded to first through third-place teams. Four mulligans are available at $5 each. Prizes will also be awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin. Lunch and drinks will be provided.

The second annual fund- raiser golf tournament is planned for Saturday, May 17 to help fund scholarships at Milano High School this spring. It will be a four-man scramble format and will be held at the Rockdale Country Club with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $60 per player or $240 for a four person team and is limited to the first 18 teams. Two mulligans may be purchased per person for $5 each. Single players are welcome and will be paired with a team.

Prizes will be given out to the top three teams, as well as for longest drive, closest to pin and hole-inone. Participants will also be served breakfast lunch. Entry deadline is May 9.
