Seven draw terms in 20th District Court action
In addition to the 10-year prison term for manslaughter (see page 6A), seven cases were disposed of guilty pleas last week in 20th District Court as follows:
• Timothy Lee Kuenstler, 48, Rockdale, engaging in organized criminal activity (enhanced), theft (under $1,500) with priors, 18-year prison term, six-month stat jail term, restitution to all victims. Full Story
Milam getting extra road funds from state
CAMERON—Milam County is eyeing just over $2.2 million in road repair funds from the state, about $200,000 more than the $2 million it asked for.
County Judge Dave Barkemeyer told commissioners Monday that’s because some counties didn’t apply for state funds targeting roads damaged by heavy oilfield equipment. Full Story

Two felony arrests reported by police
Two felony arrests were made during the past week by Rockdale police, both coming after traffic stops by Ofc. James Treadway.
On April 9, Nathan Andrew Willingham, 28, of Rockdale, was charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
He remains in custody ion lieu of $20,000 bond. Full Story
Mailbox vandalism incidents reported Monday
Four incidents of mailbox vandalism were reported to the Milam County Sheriff’s Department on Monday.
All four were in a rural area near Thorndale.
Three incidents were reported on County Road 455 and a fourth on Perry Lane. Full Story
One person was transported from the scene of this crash, east of Milano on US 79, just after 3 p.m. Monday. According to the Cameron office of the Department of Public Safety, the trooper with information on the crash is off duty through Wednesday and no information was available at The Reporter’s deadline. Judge pronounces 10-year prison term for manslaughter
CAMERON—District Judge John Youngblood on Friday sentenced a 57-year-old Rockdale man to a 10-year prison term in connection with a 2012 Jeep-pedestrian collision that took the life of an unborn child.
Youngblood ruled shock probation could be considered for Mark Allen Talley. Full Story
MARC Run nets $30,000 for center
The 13th MARC Run, held Saturday beginning and ending at The Ranch, raised $30,407.50 for the Milam Adult Resource Center (MARC).
“More money is still coming in,” Cynthia Ferrell, spokesperson for Bad to the Bone Riders, event sponsor, said.
In its 13-year history, the run has now raised more than $167,000 for the center. Full Story
